ENGLISH & LITERACY
Our program provides opportunities for students to access modern, popular texts, as well as beloved classics. From the recently published Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor to Margaret Atwood’s all too relevant Handmaid’s Tale to Shakespeare’s classics, the diverse options included in our program engage a wide variety of readers at all levels. We also actively seek opportunities for students to study books they are interested in and passionate about. Each year includes independent study opportunities that acknowledge student voice/input.
We now have Academic Pathways at the grade nine level. This exciting initiative ensures that all students have fair and equitable access to the pathways that will result in the greatest success for them. Whether it’s the fundamental skills taught in our locally developed program, the development of independent reading skills and writing in our Academic program, or the enrichment provided via our STEM and AP programs, every grade 9 student will receive the highest caliber of instruction in an environment that puts the student first.
